A family with 3 teenage children bought this house which had started life as a loch-side cottage and been extended to four times its size in the early 90s. The needed to add more space and wanted to create a roof terrace at the same time as modernising the interior. The challenge here was to update the interior whilst maintaining the integrity of the existing architect-designed extension. 90s interiors were radical and most of them have been updated and lost now so we enjoyed treating it as a period piece, for example by retaining the stainless steel studded ceiling in the kitchen and by taking cues form the original colour palette by using blue and burgundy but in a more up to date way. We installed new technology but repaired the existing floor. The master suite was designed with a dressing room, lounge area, mini bar and an open bathroom with floor to ceiling glass on three sides and access to the garden.
