Carlton Terrace Edinburgh

A family with two teenage boys were moving from Glasgow to Edinburgh and had bought a whole townhouse that had not been touched since the 80s. The house was completed in phases as the family needed to live there while the work was going on. The basement was split into a 2 bedroom flat for letting and a gym and barbecue prep kitchen for the main house to use. Two living rooms were created, a more casual family space for chatting and watching TV and a more formal one with views of Arthur’s seat connected to the dining room and used for pre and post- dinner drinks. The existing Smallbone kitchen was of exceptional quality so it was modified a little to suit their cooking style and painted with Farrow and ball paints to update it. The two boys were treated as clients and briefed us for the individual design of their rooms. A more quirky post-punk design was used in their games room.
