Shingle House

We were invited by Nord Architects to help them with the window treatments for this Dungeness home commissioned by Alain de Botton as part of his Living Architecture project. The house was designed with lots of glass but with no boundary to the land the lack of privacy, from tourists coming to see the iconic Derek Jarman house nearby, was a problem for residents. We never saw the house, we took dimensions from drawings (always risky) had the curtains made in Glasgow and posted them and the tracks to Dungeness.
